Welcome to Crazy Love

Hi friends,

Welcome to the Crazy Love "online study" sight! Here we will discuss our discoveries and those things that challenge us as we read through the book Crazy Love by Frances Chan. I have previously read this book and it changed my life in a pretty dramatic way, more about that later. For the next few days, let's spend this time getting to know each other. Take a moment and share with everyone where you live, and a little about yourself and family. Share your expectations that you have for being a part of this group. How you came to join us, and last but not least share a little about your walk with the Lord up till now. I will start us off.

Hi my name is Sandra and I live in a little town called Sun City West. Sun City West is located outside Phoenix Arizona, in the United States. I am currently unemployed. I am married to a wonderful man. We have two children both grown with families of their own; a daughter in Texas, a son in California, and 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 20, quite a span for sure. I don't get to see my grandkids very often, as they all live out of state, it is a huge challenge to find ways to be close. I need lots of improvement and encouragement in this area.

I have been a Christian for a number of years, but I didn't really start developing a relationship with the Lord until much later in my walk. This season of my life is filled with teaching Bible studies, writing devotions, and most recently taking on the challenge of writing a Bible study or two. Writing has been prompted by the Holy Spirit, until about 3 years ago I never ever even thought of writing not has it has been strong desire; until now!
My expectations for this group are pretty simple. I am looking forward to sharing ideas, discoveries, challenges and insights as we read the book Crazy Love, encouraging each other along the journey both spiritually and personally. As already stated the book Crazy Love changed my life and has challenged my thinking in small ways and in radical "crazy ways".

I am not an experienced online blogger but hope to get better with practice. So please bear with me.

Okay enough about me - - now it is your turn.

Hugs, Sandra

  1. Hi! I'm Dawn and I've been a Christian all my life. I have a heart for the former Soviet Union and I have gone on several missions trips to that area. I've also hosted quite a few exchange students from different parts of the world. I am an active member of Palm Valley Christian church here in Avondale, AZ. My area of service is in the Prayer Ministry and the New Believers Ministry. I enjoy being a part of the Women's Ministry and occasionally singing in the choir when they do specials.

I have two beautiful daughters, ages 18 and 8 and they are the joy of my life. I have been divorced now for 3 years and it has been a struggle after 22 years of marriage to do life on my own. But praise God, He has given me the strength to perservere...

I am looking forward to this study, because I don't have much "me" time to spend in growing closer to the Lord. I struggle to have my daily Bible Study...I need the encouragement and accountability of my fellow believers to keep me strong in my faith. I am looking forward to what God wants to teach me through this...

This is my first time blogging too, so hopefully this posts the way it should! LOL

    God Bless,
    Dawn

  3. Good Morning from sunny Southern Californa! I am Sonya. I am in Thousand Oaks. I just dropped my 13 year old off for the first day of school. She is in the 8th grade and this is her first year in a public school and the hardest thing I have had to do since Kindergarten. I wish I could share the terror I saw in her eyes as she got out of the car, but I know God has her covered and she will be fine. I just had to share that since it is on my heart right now.

I have 2 children, my 13 year old, who will be 14 tomorrow, and a 23 year old who lives in Lincoln, Ca. She is married and has given me 2 grandkids. I am so not old enough for that ;0)

I have been married for 9 years. Lost my first husband to cancer 12 years ago, but God blessed me with a new marriage and a fresh start in life I guess you could say. We lived in Lincoln for about 5 years then moved south, my husbands stomping grounds.

We attend Oak Brook Community Church. A very small church, but very active in the community. For me it is a place of peace and calmness and truly a place that shows Gods love. My relationship with God has grown over the years, especially after the loss of a husband and recently through an illness of my own. He certainly has shown me who is in control ;0) I look forward to growing even more, as I feel He is calling me to do something but I am not quite sure what that something is. Maybe this study will help.

I am part of this group because I love Sandra way too much! Sandra has been an integral part of my life. She has been my mentor through all things that life has thrown at me and I am blessed to be doing another study with her. I am looking forward to this study as I have enjoyed other ones we have done and I know this one will not come without challenges and growth opportunities.

    Blessings,
    Sonya

  4. Hi! I'm Pat and like Sandra live in Sun City West, AZ. I grew up in a Christian home. When I was nine I made a personal commitment to Jesus and have been growing in Him since then. Of course, there have been ups and downs in my growth, but God has been good and has led me throughout life. I am retired since May 31st. I have been married for 44 years to a godly man. We have two wonderful grown children who have given us 5 beautiful grandchildren. Our daughter lives in TN with her preacher husband and their four year old and two year old. Our son lives in Idaho with his wife and three children, 9, 6, and almost 4. I wish they were closer so we could have more time with grandchildren. We praise God they are being raised to love Jesus.

I belong to Sun City West Christian Church. I lead the Monday Ladies Bible Study, taking turns with several other ladies in teaching. I enjoy calling on shut ins and widows. I also enjoy being involved in the women's ministry.

I've joined this study group because of my friendship with Sandra. She's been an inspiration to me and I enjoy studying with her. I am sure this study will help me to continue growing in my relationship with God. I don't want to ever stop growing. There is still lots of room for improvement in my life and I want the changes to be what God wants.

  6. Hi I'm Trish and new to blogging. I tried to comment on Tuesday, but my computer and I went crossways with eachother and . . . well . . . no comment :(

Anyway, this year I'm on the eve of 50, live in Peoria, AZ and work at Glendale Community College in Glendale, AZ.

I have a son who is 18 and a senior in high school this year, a step-daughter who is 30 and chosen to be in my life, and a husband of 23 years who is making choices to be or not to be in my life.

I was raised in a Christian home and made a commitment to Christ at the age of seven. I have been close and growing during periods of my life like high school and college. However, have also been self absorbed and preoccupied as a young mother and middle aged woman. I believe I am on a path a healing and coming back to closer relationship with God now.

I started the book Crazy Love last year, but got side tracked. I'm looking forward to reading and discussing it with you.
